Sorry everybody for not blogging for a while. So what’s new on the trip since the last time I blogged well I’m no longer in France the teAm made it to costa rica and have painted most of the outside and all of the inside of a church in a town called jaco. It was great being able to work with the pastor and missionary here and being able to start and finish a project we usually on the trip get to help at some point in a ministry but normally don’t get to see the end. Last night we did some street ministry which we will also do again tonight and we got to do a mobile Sunday school for kids it was really fun and great again to just to help out great ministry. Well we have not muuch time left On the trip in fact this time next week I’ll be in chicago with my awesome youth group cant wait guys it will be so much fun being with all of you swapping stories about all of your summers. Hope that was a good update as to what I’ve been up to for the last week I’ll try and put some pics up tonight and as always

update from france

hey everybody just wanted to give you a quick update about france. I am currently in Nice France which is on the Med sea and it is some of the most gorgeous water i’ve ever seen. the whole place is very nice. However the pastor was sharing with us that even though the french people are very proud about their country and seem to have it together from the outside many of them struggle with despair and there is pretty high rate for suicides here in france and even among some of the church people there is a real struggle with despair and depression. so please pray for france, that even though from the outside it looks like it is better off then say uganda that is not the case they are really struggling here spiritually and need our prayers and our support. a couple of things that we have been doing has been cleaning out a guys apartment, his name is edwin and pray that he would receive Christ as his savior and he would continue to be loved by the church people here.also today we are working on getting the church ready for VBS next week.  well i hope to have some pics up in the next blog so stay tuned. love you all and miss you not much longer and ill be home

a little bit more of Uganda

hey everybody just wanted to share a bit more about uganda im going to have a few videos of the childrens home so hopefully that will be very descriptive and helpful for you. But i just want to say how much i love the ministry that is going on in Uganda with the orphans. they are taking children with no hope and giving them hope. The cool thing is you and i can help out in a very tangible way. 30 dollars a month is what it costs to sponsor a child there and they just got in a new batch of kids and many of them do not have any sponsorship yet so i would just ask you to pray about sponsoring a child in Uganda, i can personally vouch for the ministry that is going on there and that the children are being loved and being taught about Jesus love for them. i miss you all and i am praying for you here in France, i hope to have some blogs up about france specifically but for now enjoy the videos of Uganda.

Psalm 139

For the choir director: A psalm of David.

1 O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
2 You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
3 You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
4 You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
5 You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

7 I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
8 If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave,[a] you are there.
9 If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.
11 I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
12 but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you.

13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.

17 How precious are your thoughts about me,[b] O God.
They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!

I heard what happened with the four-wheeler accident and i just want all of you to remember that God loves all of you and while you might be hurting and confused right now please remember that the God of the universe knows you and knows whats going on in your life. He loves you and every morning when you wake up as it says in vs 18 God is with you. I love you all and miss you I will be home before i know it and i will be expecting big hugs. im praying for you and my team in prayer time is also praying for you. i hope someday they would beable to meet my amazing youth group back in iowa. I am so proud of all of you.

the long journey

Hey im sitting in a ugandan internet cafe and the internet is really slow, but let me share a little how we got here and then a little about being here.

We left india sunday and traveled through dubai which was a really nice airport that i didnt really get to see, cause we had to stay outside the airport most of the morning. i did get a chocolate shake from baskin robins thinking of you cuz. we also had a stop over in ethiopia not the greatest airport ever. and then we finally landed in Uganda which is amazing weather compared to india, cool breezy everything is really green and we met our contact at the airport her name is natalie and then had a 5 hr bus ride to mbale which is where the orphanage and school are. we got to see lake victoria and the nile river while we were on this long bus ride. anyways we got to mbale and natalie’s house and were pleasantly surprised with the house we are staying in. its big and has 2 bathrooms and hot water praise Jesus. and a washing machine oh yeah, no more smelly clothes. its a great set up and we are very blessed to be here in Uganda.

The morning after we got here we headed to the orphanage and school and had a great time meeting the kids getting a tour of the school and orphanage and then getting a chance to put our mark on it by painting. our team painted rooms in the boys and girls dorms while they were in school except for katherine who helped paint a mural for the children on the cooking building. the school has grades have preschool up to 7th grade. they hope to have higher grades when the students reach that level but right now the majority of the students are in the preschool to 7th grade range. hopefully today ill beable to sit in on a class and maybe even read to the class, that would be fun. the people are so nice and the children are so great. the other day i taught them one of our songs and it was so great listening to them sing it back it was the ole le song dude made up in egypt or something. and i know im not supposed to have a favorite but i kinda do and her name is gloria she is a 2 year old with the funkiest hair but a very cute smile, and she loves to play patti cake. also i have another girl that only cries when i talk to her so hopefully i will beable to win her over before i leave her name is stella and her last name is naula which is awesome. hopefully i can get some photos up of them and the orphanage/school soon but the internet is soo slow.

before i go i just want to give a shout out to my mom its her birthday today so happy birthday mom hopefully i can call you sometime today if not know im thinking of you. miss you all a lot and only a month away from chicago youth group i hear we might have some additions so i can t wait to get back and spend a week in chicago with all of you it will be a blast.

A little more from India

Hey so its been pretty hot but bearable definitely better then it was last time i was here. We have been able to take the kids to KFC and they had soo much fun it was great seeing them enjoy the KFC and we took them to the water park, which was by american standards probably a hazard to everyone’s health but the kids had soooo much fun so it was definitely worth it. the cool thing about getting to take the kids to the water park was that a lot of the kids have gone home for summer break and they hadnt returned yet for school many of the children have aunts or uncles that they can go stay with for a while.  so the kids that were left at the orphanage were kids that really have no where else to go and no one else to take care of them, it was just great to beable to take them and make them feel special thank you for your prayers and support in letting us take them, it was  a great day. Its been great to be back in india to just be able to love the children give them hugs and tell them they are loved is really great. hearing them sing while not the most in tune singing ive ever heard im sure is sweet music in Jesus’ ears.

here are a few more pics of the children and i hope to have a video up soon when the internet is a little better

hey i just want to start the blog off with some pics of the orphanage here in India so enjoy!

hey hope the pictures are helpful to help you get a quick glance of the orphanage, ill have more later, but quickly one is of the orphanage mission statement no child left behind so to speak, and then the one of the younger girl and the little boy is actually the wife of the head of the orphanage and the child is hers, her name is jobi and her son is Benjiman. the children are just as beautiful as i remember and just as entertaining and excited to see us. its pleasantly not as hot as it was last time so knock on wood. anyways i just have one prayer request and request of all of you back in iowa, we are wanting to take the children to the pool but it costs quite a bit to take all the children to it and we were hoping that if you wanted to help out in that way you can by sending some money to the address on the global journey website and for purpose put water park or pool, i also will probably have some other needs to share with you that the orphanage has. but for now ill just share that one and again thank you the children will really love being able to leave the orphanage and play in the pools. so far i’ve heard one really good version of Jesus is the winner man and it practically brought tears to my eyes the kids are so awesome. thanks for all your prayers ill be preaching tomorrow morning so if you could remember me in your prayers for that that would also be cool. this has turned into quite a long blog so i will sign off for now but return to the blog for updates on the kids.

bye bye Hong Kong

Hey sorry its been a couple of days for the blog. but i have some cool update info for all you in the states back home. we are finished now with the ministry here in Hong Kong/China. today was our last day and it was pretty crazy, i finished 8 of 11 for delieveries without getting stopped, the sad thing is i was 8 of 9 going into today, on my last delivery i went nuts on how much weight i was going to try and get delivered and i started out with 273 pounds of book and that was crazy but i got stopped and lost some of the weight which was nice to some degree because then i didnt have to carry as much but sad cause i got stopped, but all glory to God who got me through 8 times and it was awesome i cant wait to get home and tell you more details of what we did and the process. we had a meeting with the leaders tonight and they shared with us that our group while we were here the whole group delivered around 3 tons of books. pretty amazing to think we took that many but i guess i will just go with it. anyways just wanted to share that with you as well as we are flying out tomorrow around 4 our time and i think that is 3 am your time so you will all be asleep but i will be flying over the indian ocean, anyways please keep us in your prayers as we move on to india where i hope i will beable to blog at least twice and have way more pictures. thanks again everyone for all your support and prayers i know with you back home praying we are able to do more so thank you.

Actions speak louder then words

Hey everybody sorry i havn’t had a blog in a while, but i have a thought i would like to share with you. While we are in China we are told we can’t use christian words, it was very  challenging at first because at least for me its just regular speak. At first i thought this would be a horrible way to live having to be careful of every word you said, i cant imagine what it would be like for the Chinese christians always having to be careful and watching what they say.  But then yesterday i thought about what my good old friend James says in james 2:14 14What good is it, my brothers, if someone SAYS he has faith(S) but does not have works? Can that faith save him? the Christian life is way more about our actions what we do then about what we say, yeah i know that we are commanded to speak about God at times that is what we have to do, but a lot of the time even if we cant say it out loud with our mouths we can say it through how we live our lives. and comparing the american church with the chinese church id have to say the american church is more about the talking and the chinese while having to be careful what they say are thriving right now with simply their actions. maybe if back in america christians did more living out, with actions, their christianity rather then talking about it, it would be weird at first but then seem very natural and we would see some pretty cool stuff. Hope that made sense and as we are doing God’s work please remember us in your prayers.
